Portable CW Carrier RF Signal Generators

Our complete line of pocket-size RF generators includes flat-output, crystal controlled harmonic models for North American and international frequency allocations, as well as single and dual carrier generators. These inexpensive portable signal sources provide a cost-effective solution for testing return path applications during initial set up, as well as when the cable plant is fully up and operating.  We can customize frequencies for single and dual carrier generators, depending on the unused frequency range in the system.

The generators’ durable metal housing can withstand rough field handling, and should you accidentally drop the unit, the solid metal shield eliminates damage to the on/off switch.  An “out of calibration” alarm which doubles as a low battery indicator is included on all models.

While you can use our generators for several applications, the most popular are proofing your subscriber’s drop prior to the installation of a cable modem,  return path activation and balancing.  In addition, when used in conjunction with a signal level meter, these generators have also been proven effective in measuring the insertion loss of cables, amplifiers, splitters and taps.

FEATURES:

  • Four standard return path signal generator models: SCG-F, DCG-F1/F2, HG-742, and HG-864 (“F” denotes frequency); other configurations are available on request.

  • Frequencies for HG Series are 7, 14…42MHz for North American and 8, 16…64MHz for international markets with output levels up to 51BmV.

  • Frequencies for SCG and DCG Series units can be customer specific with output levels up to 55dBmV.

  • Generators can operate from a wall plug-in AC power adapter or from built-in NI-CAD rechargeable batteries; optional standard alkaline batteries can also be used.

  • Output frequencies of the two-carrier unit, Model DCG-F1/F2, are each controlled by an independent on/off switch.
